Well there is a multitude of reasons for this from a diet lacking the additional education to support it’s methods so the user can understand it’s principals an stick to them, even when in a situation like eating out with friends. If we have clear goals and ideals to stick to then it takes a lot of the guess work away and ultimately aids adherence which is with out doubt the most important part of your diet or lifestyle change. Remember we’re looking at long term changes to the way we eat, we often say to clients…
If you can’t see yourself eating like you are now in 1 years time then this diet is not for you.
Obviously this may not be the case if you are dieting for 12 weeks for a competition for example but for the VAST majority this is just not the case. We need ideals and principals that we can stick to that aid not only our physical health but positively impact our moods and happiness. Being healthy is so much more than just being disease free it’s about being in good physical shape and even more so good mental shape, being HAPPY & POSITIVE!
So already you maybe able to see that the diet you’re using is not suitable or sustainable for your life style, there are so many off the shelf diets and to be honest some may actually work very well for you but very few are as near to perfect as we need them to be able in order comfortably sustain them.
We are all so very unique and so are our wants, needs and general day to day lives, for example when dieting some of us like to track macros and for us it gives control and others don’t and it potentially gives some a bad relationship with food. Finding the perfect diet for you really means finding the perfect lifestyle for you and this is only achieved by continual trail and error until you are happy. Then in the future when your circumstances change so will your diet, but this time you will know what works for you and have a clearer idea of how to adjust.
So how can we go about learning how to create our perfect diet, well there are many ways but let’s cover some of the big ones.
